New Joker?

Rumors of bringing “The Joker” back in the next “Batman” movie are starting to spread. Which is logical considering that in “The Dark Knight” we never actually see what happens to The Joker at the end of the movie. The only question is… WHO is going to dare try to raise the bar that Heath Ledger so brilliantly set?

It seems that they may have one of the ONLY candidates I could see successfully taking the part. Daniel Day Lewis:
You may recognize him from movies like Gangs of New York or There Will Be Blood (above). He’s a bad mammajamma and definitely knows how to pull off a creepo-villain type of character.

Again, nothing is for sure… but I think this guy would do an awesome job with this role. What do you think?

Hand to Paper

I honestly can’t remember the last time I put my hand to paper to just write something non-signature/list/label related.  Like writing a paragraph or EVEN the lyrics to a song.  It seems like I use “Pages” for all of my substance-related writing these days.

I need a moleskin.

Is this bad?

I’m sure there are only a handful of my readers that will appreciate this one.  But it made me laugh so I had to share it.

Redefine will look like this this year… not the lights, stage, sound system… or all that other stuff. But the presence and energy of God in that room!

Things I Like About…

Areopagus:

1. The window ledges – they are big enough to hold all of the clutter that would otherwise cramp my workspace (computer bag, keys, ipod, phone). I’m a bit of a stickler about keeping a clean work area… just ask the production team.

2. The Employees – are relational, genuine and authentic in nature. And they occasionally bring me out a drink to sample for free…

3. The View – it’s a “great indoors” sort of atmosphere that is enjoyable both internally and externally.  For the times that I’m focussed and INTO what I’m doing, the atmosphere is great.  And then then times when I want to get outside of myself and gaze out one of the many windows revealing downtown Rock Island, it’s people and the abandoned dry cleaner building next door which will soon be turning into something… the atmosphere is great.

PS – you know you need a haircut when you start pulling the just-style-the-front-of-your-hair-because-it’s-too-long-to-stand-up-from-front-to-back numbers.

You should come join us…

Even though we had to cancel practice due to Operation Renovation construction preparation, I actually had a pretty productive and rhythmic Thursday.

  7:12am – woke up
7:13am – threw sweatpants, sweatshirt and corduroy house shoes on
7:16am – drove Tif to work, still half asleep
7:48am – arrive home and wake myself up with mindless HD programming (namely Ghost Hunters)
10:07am – watch live streaming video of Los smashing his boss at ping pong
10:59am – arrive in church parking lot… fashionably 1 minute early
11:28am – receive e-mail from David Halverson about new New Wine logo
12:12-1:06pm – exchange e-mails back and forth editing logo
12:38pm – procrastinate going to lunch
1:30pm – debate with Josiah about the name “New Wine” for our youth band
2:06pm – talk to Nic about college, ministry and soccer
2:39pm – regret not going to lunch
2:40pm – do the bulletin, slideshow and live worship presentation for Sunday
3:38pm – chuckled to myself for successfully acting out the “Thursday-Midnight” principle
3:45-4:15pm – burned, charted and printed the new song for New Wine  members to learn
  4:45pm – git r done

Lunch

On most days, lunchtime is exciting.  It usually means instant gratification to my somewhat healthy addiction to eating.  Today was different.  I forgot to bring anything from home and ended up raiding the church cafe.  This is what a lonely Wednesday’s lunch looked like:

-1 Snickers Candy Bar
-1 Stick of Beef Jerky
-1 Blueberry Bagel w/ Cream Cheese
-1 Zona

…(enter Justin) “Hey man, there’s come Hot Pockets in the freezer… that usually what I eat when I forget my lunch.”

-1 Hot Pocket

Despite my best efforts… my iPod classic is not working as a cell phone. Why am I trying to do that? Because last night I seem to have misplaced my cool-about-a-year-ago razor phone. This is not good. All my phone numbers are in it. Thursdays are already non-rhythmic days as it is and now I have to make calls and I can’t find my phone anywhere. If you have any information as to the whereabouts of my phone, please call… umm… my wife… no… the church at 563-386-7610. This would have never happened if I had an iPhone… it would have found its way back to my loving arms by now…
